Class 10
Today we talked about how bloggers could be internet terrorists. I can understand the argument about how these are not the most reliable sources and that we should be careful and fact check the information, but I believe these sites provide a great source of info as well. First of all, anything that can get people to write and express their opinions is a good thing. I find that so many people have opinions, but don't express them. Or, you have people that generally don't have an opinion or are not outgoing enough to voice them. Second, people should be free to express themselves without being harshly judged. This forum provides an outlet for people to express perspectives outside the mainstream thought. I mean it would have been extremely useful, in hindsight, if someone was screaming from the top of their blog last July about how this credit crisis/housing crisis/consumer spending crisis/international stupidity crisis would send us into World Depression II. Lastly, Vlogs or blogs are a great way for people to get info that is generally not for sale. I am planning a trip to Brazil right now and I value blog opinions considerably more than opinions expressed in a book or magazine where the hotel or bar probably paid for exposure.
